TEACHING THROUGH GOD'S REVELATION

From the May 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Across a world darkened by the seeming activity of evil, sickness, malice, lust, and hate, Christian Science shines, a beacon light that illumines the spiritual import of the Bible and renders its promise of goodness and health demonstrable by humanity here and now. The knowledge of this Science is found in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and other Christianly scientific writings by the same author.

One mission of literature is to convey ideas to others. That literature which conveys the most Godlike ideas is the greatest literature. Mrs. Eddy's books, in unlocking and conveying to mankind the spiritual and practical meaning of the Bible, present the facts of being. They explain what constitutes spiritual reality more clearly than any writings known to humanity since the New Testament.

It is fruitless to attempt to measure the literary excellence of Mrs. Eddy's writings using as a standard the works of authors, poets, and playwrights who have largely depicted only various phases of false, finite human concepts. The human thought, being on the level of such literature until instructed in something higher, may feel more at home with it than with that which presents hitherto unknown primal, spiritual facts.
