Poems

"The oil of joy for mourning "

From the June 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To him who knows that life is always "hid
With Christ in God," untouched by mortal sense
And held in safety by omnipotence.
All anniversaries are times to rid
His heart of sad beliefs in loss and bid
It recognize man's joyous permanence.
By this he helps dissolve the world's immense
And gloomy structure—sorrow's pyramid.

He knows that loved ones faring on ahead,
Beyond the pathway's bend and out of sight,
Are one with God and are divinely led.
Are one with Life and are renewed aright,
And one with Love and so are comforted.
His wreath of angel thoughts is heaven-bright.
