The testimonies given in the Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, as well as at the Wednesday testimony meetings, have helped me on countless occasions. I am grateful for working Christian Scientists everywhere and should like to relate a healing which took place because of the alertness of some Christian Science friends.
Three years ago, while seeking employment, I was told by a practitioner that it does not matter what type of job one has, for the important thing is his desire to serve God. Keeping this in thought, I was led to apply for a position for which I did not have the training, experience, or educational background deemed necessary. In spite of this the position was given to me; and it seemed to offer ideal working conditions as well as ample opportunities for service. However, after I had worked a short time a personnel problem arose in the office, and conditions became such that I felt them to be unbearable. This was mentioned to several friends one day. I am grateful that they were such alert Christian Scientists that instead of offering sympathy they emphatically declared the truth. The following day the entire situation was met; furthermore, I began to handle the technical details of my work with ease.
At the time I accepted this position the salary was rather small, and my employer told me that he would be unable to give me a raise in pay for the first year because the budget for that year had already been set up. However, while I was helping a fellow Christian Scientist realize the truth about infinite good, when she was faced with a problem of supply, an old savings account in another city was discovered by my firm, and my salary was immediately raised. This happened four months after I had accepted the job. Six months later I was given another substantial raise. Many blessings have continued to unfold in this position.
