It is with deep gratitude that I submit this testimony, hoping that it may inspire others to find in Christian Science the practical, available answer for their every problem. As a child I was considered frail and sickly. It was not until I was grown that I responded to the Bible invitation (Ezek. 18:32), "Turn yourselves, and live ye." With me the acceptance of Christian Science was an instant and complete turning, a reliance without reservation on God's allness, as presented by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in Science and Health. Although previous to this time much of my life had been spent in bed, in the ensuing twenty-six years not one day has been spent in this way.
From babyhood I had suffered from a recurring ear trouble that resulted in collections of excess wax in the ear and periodic deafness. Some time ago this trouble returned. The suggestion came that if I only had the syringe I had used as a girl to remove the wax, I would be free from deafness. Immediately I corrected this suggestion with the joyous realization that I had God to help me instead. I went peacefully to sleep, and when I awakened, my hearing was clear and acute. It has remained so ever since, a fact which proves that hearing is mental.
A tumor, which had been on the sole of my foot since my girlhood, disappeared about fifteen years ago. Someone told me that her daughter had just been operated on for such a condition and asked if I had ever heard of a tumor on the foot. I opened my mouth to say, "Yes, I have one there;" but immediately I closed it, seeing an opportunity to deny error and to claim man's identity as wholly spiritual and Godlike. All that afternoon I rejoiced that there is no growth but spiritual growth and no operation but that of the truth in individual consciousness. That night when I retired, I saw that the tumor was gone; and it has never reappeared.
