My first healing in Christian Science was an instantaneous one of a sprained ankle. It was impossible for me to walk, and the pain was excruciating. I had just memorized "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 468), and it came to my thought. Within five minutes I was completely free from all discomfort. The discoloration and swelling abated later the same day.
The healing of a stomach condition came so gradually that I did not know exactly when it took place. From childhood I could eat no foods containing acid without suffering from sick headaches and vomiting. One day I suddenly realized that I had been eating everything set before me and had been doing so with no ill effects. This healing has been permanent.
When I was engaged in the theatrical profession many wonderful healings took place, both physical and financial. One Sunday afternoon I was stricken with a severe case of illness. I telephoned a practitioner, and he lovingly said he would help me. By the following morning my condition was improved, although it was almost impossible for me to stand up. It was imperative for me to be at the theater for the afternoon performance. Otherwise it would mean the loss of six months' bookings, not only for myself, but for three others.
