Many times I have wanted to express my most grateful thanks to God for Christian Science through writing a testimony for the periodicals. Each time I have allowed myself to be influenced by a sense of inadequacy and of still having too much to learn. Now I realize that this is a subtle form of error, and that my giving of thanks could be delayed forever if I continued to give power to these suggestions. Reading the testimonies of healing always gives me a renewed and vigorous sense of gratitude. I am grateful for all the power of Truth being proved in the world today and for those who record their healings to help others.
Christian Science was brought to my notice when my eldest son was a very small boy. He was suffering from a condition diagnosed by the doctor as a tubercular gland in the stomach. He had been put on a special diet and ordered to take many hours of rest daily.
A friend explained to me how a mother who was a Christian Scientist would approach this problem. The freedom, joy, and purity of her viewpoint appealed to me greatly. I began the study of Christian Science and stopped following the medical advice given. This boy was completely healed and has never since had stomach trouble of any kind. He has had several medical examinations in school and in the Army since his healing, and each time he has been pronounced fit in all ways.
