DIVINE LOVE MEETS THE HUMAN NEED

From the December 1955 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." We find this impelling statement on page 494 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This is not a rhetorical promise, nor is it to be taken as a comforting assurance that eventually, if we do the best we can, we shall receive some sort of a reward for our endurance of seemingly trying circumstances. This is a positive statement of Love's omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence.

We learn through the study of Christian Science that eternity is now; that the belief of time is nothing more than a measurement of human means and methods. With this in mind, we see that the word "always" in the foregoing sentence is indicative of "in all ways, at all times, under any circumstance."

The nowness of divine Love's providence is indicated in the unfolding bud, the song of the bird, the joy that is ours when we can confidently and lovingly say, "Father, I leave this in Your hands." Whatever the human status, the spiritual fact that Love, God, is an ever-present help is established as an ever-operative, active law of being. As such, it is irrevocable, unimpeachable, and cannot be forced, delayed, or annulled by mortal modes or methods.
