Like many others, I am deeply grateful for Mary Baker Eddy's definition of God as Father-Mother. Christian Science has taught me that the loving Parent and creator is entirely free from all that is material and afflictive and that He cannot impart to His spiritual creation, man and the universe, anything which He Himself is not experiencing. The realization of this truth has healed me of physical discords and resolved inharmonious human relationships into harmonious ones.
For many years Christian Science has been an ever-present comfort to me. My acquaintance with it began when I witnessed a healing. My Sunday School teacher in a Protestant church had been wearing glasses with lenses so thick that they distorted the appearance of her eyes. One Sunday she appeared without the glasses, her eyes lovely and luminous.
In response to the pupils' inquiries, she replied that the healing of her eyes and the laying off of glasses, which she had worn for many years, were due to the reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Another healing in our immediate neighborhood was that of a minister's mother, who had a malignant disease. These healings led to the healing of my mother, who was ill with a serious complication of diseases and who took up the study of Christian Science.
