"RISE IN THE STRENGTH OF SPIRIT"

From the October 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A most encouraging statement is given by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 393): "Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man."

Christ Jesus often used the word "rise" in his healing work. We read in John that the Master said to the man who "had an infirmity thirty and eight years" (5:8), "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk." The narrative continues, "And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked."

Again, Peter, in the name of Christ Jesus, was able to say to the man lame from birth (Acts 3:6), "Rise up and walk." And we read, "He took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength."
