I first heard of Christian Science some years ago. However, at that time I was not in the least interested.
Then, about eight years ago, my husband passed on, and I was left without a home. My world was shattered, and I became very ill mentally and very weak physically. At this stage I went to live in the home of a relative who was a Christian Scientist. He offered me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and also very kindly took me to Wednesday testimony meetings in a Church of Christ, Scientist, and to an occasional lecture. Eventually I went to a Christian Science practitioner, and after this visit I bought a textbook of my own. But still I did not get down to reading it.
All this time I was taking drugs prescribed by my doctor—one sort to make me sleep, and another to help me through each day. I smoked incessantly, and I was paying visits to psychiatrists.
