In "Miscellaneous Writings," one of Mrs. Eddy's invaluable gifts to Christian Scientists, we read (p. 340), "Be active, and, however slow, thy success is sure: toil is triumph; and—thou hast been faithful over a few things." This reassuring statement was proved to be true in the healing of a throat condition from which I had suffered since a small child. Each winter severe attacks of tonsillitis kept me from school and other normal activities, sometimes for two months at a time. As I grew older, these attacks grew more severe, and the physician attending me diagnosed the condition as quinsy. After I became a Christian Scientist, the attacks lessened and in time ceased.
However, in 1922 my throat became inflamed, and the quinsy took a more severe form than at any time previously. One of my family became alarmed and called in a physician. His verdict was that I must leave for the hospital and be operated on, but I refused to do so. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and within a week I was healed. The healing has been permanent.

One year after attending a particularly inspiring annual association meeting I resolved to read each one of these books several times before my association met the following year. Each book was read seven times. During this course of study I detected a change in my viewpoint on many things. My experience took on added harmony and color, and my appreciation of and love for Mrs. Eddy were greatly enhanced. Through this study I perceived that one of our Leader's greatest teachings is that Love is not personal, possessive, and changeable, but, as we read in Science and Health (p. 57), "Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it.
