On page 254 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says, "Imperfect mortals grasp the ultimate of spiritual perfection slowly; but to begin aright and to continue the strife of demonstrating the great problem of being, is doing much." I am grateful that I can "continue the strife of demonstrating the great problem of being."
Some years ago I was introduced to Christian Science through the healing of my mother. She had suffered for a long time with sciatica and was healed in one treatment. This healing made little impression on the family except for the joy and relief occasioned by her release from suffering and her return to normal activity.
Several years later I became somewhat interested in Christian Science and began reading the textbook, Science and Health. I would use the truths it contained, but somewhat apathetically. However, I found them useful in allaying fear regarding our little boy.
