Testimonies of Healing

From the April 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the early part of 1954 I was appointed executrix of a small estate. As my task appeared to be rather complicated, I visited an attorney who was acquainted with the case. One of his first statements was, "There will be nothing left after the debts are paid."

When that remark was made I thought, "Negative thinking is not the way of Christian Science." Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, tells us in "Christian Healing" (p. 10): "If you wish to be happy, argue with yourself on the side of happiness; take the side you wish to carry, and be careful not to talk on both sides, or to argue stronger for sorrow than for joy. You are the attorney for the case, and will win or lose according to your plea."

The aid of a Christian Science practitioner was secured. One of her first statements was that from Science and Health, where Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 66), "Each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love." Thoughts of justice and honesty for all concerned were held to, and we also declared that the case was in God's hands, in good hands.
