"BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW"

From the April 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Every individual plagued with discords and frustrations, be they acute or chronic, can be transformed or "born again," as the Scripture puts it. The sure way to experience this regeneration is to turn to the Christ-example, learn the truths of being as revealed in Christian Science, and walk in the steps of the great Way-shower. Each troubled individual who is sincere and courageous enough to change his direction of thought in order to follow the Christ, Truth, can enter the path to peace and security. The going may not always be easy, but the recompense is assured.

The reward for Christlike thinking and living is portrayed clearly in the prophetic vision which appeared to the receptive thought of St. John. In the twenty-first chapter of Revelation we read: "I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away....And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men....And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new."

This inspiring picture of universal harmony, seen in pure spiritual light, represents the fulfillment of humanity's hope. St. John's vision reveals the possibilities of a new life in Truth, a life resulting from spiritualization of human thought. This reformation of sense and self can be attained "without money and without price," by seeking good through earnest prayer and the consecrated study of the Bible and of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy.
