Christian Science reveals a fixed divine Principle, which is God. Unseen to the physical senses, the presence of this Principle is known only by its effects. The laws of God are demonstrable, and any sincere student of Christian Science who understands the Principle can prove its presence by its healing effect.
Divine law could not operate in contrary directions. If that were possible, law would not be divine. Divine law operates only in one direction, namely to produce order, harmony, and health. Any aspect of the human problem, whether it is concerned with mind, body, or estate, must yield to the rule and reign of divine law. Thus it will be seen that Christian Science operates by means of fixed Principle, law, and demonstration.
Christ Jesus healed all manner of disease, discord, and sin. He turned constantly to divine Principle, which he named Father, and he had complete confidence in the result. A rule of his life was self-immolation. Before healing could take place, he subjugated human will to the will of God. His words and works confirm this belief. He said (John 14:10), "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."
