From the June 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society announces the election of Helen Appleton, C. S., of Boston, Massachusetts, as a member of that Board. The election has the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors.

Miss Appleton will fill the vacancy occasioned by the passing of Elizabeth McArthur Thomson, C. S. B., who for more than eleven years had given faithful service on the Board of Trustees in addition to her work as a teacher and practitioner of Christian Science. Mrs. Thomson formerly served as a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Miss Appleton is a native of Boston, Massachusetts. She attended both public and private schools in and outside of Boston. She was graduated from Leland Powers School of the Theatre, where later she was a faculty member and then served as dean of the school. She resigned from that work to devote all of her time to the practice of Christian Science.
