"FOUNDED ON LOVE"

From the June 1956 issue of The Christian Science Journal

On the largest bell of the chime of bell installed in the Extension of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy had the following inscription placed:

"The First Church of Christ, Scientist
in Boston, Massachusetts
1906
Founded on Love"

The account is recorded in that most interesting book, "The Mother Church Extension," by Margaret Williamson (pp. 65,66). How characteristic of Mrs. Eddy to speak of The Mother Church as "founded on Love." And in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" this spiritually inspired woman declares (p. 35): "Our church is built on the divine Principle, Love. We can unite with this church only as we are new-born of Spirit, as we reach the Life which is Truth and the Truth which is Life by bringing forth the fruits of Love,— casting out error and healing the sick."
