Christian Science has done so much for me and my family that my gratitude knows no bounds. My heart sings with the Psalmist (Ps. 92:1), "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord." I shall never cease to be grateful to God that I decided to turn to Christian Science. To me, it brought the beginning of a new world.
I had been a semi-invalid, afflicted with indigestion for seven years, and like the woman in the Bible (Mark 5:26) "had suffered many things of many physicians." Added to that experience, I had been in an accident and had sustained a back injury. Materia medica had passed a sentence on me that I would suffer for the rest of my life, and for five years I had never known a day without pain.
Christian Science was presented to me at this point of despair, and I accepted it eagerly and without question. Thanks to God, through the loving help of a practitioner I was healed within two months and have been well and happy ever since. When I knew that I was healed, I wanted to shout it from the housetops and tell everyone about it, but I soon learned to temper my zeal with wisdom.
Four years ago I was beautifully protected when a gas stove exploded and burned my face and one of my arms. For a short time the pain was severe. I turned immediately to God for help, as I had learned to do in Christian Science, and repeated "the scientific statement of being" as given on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Also I remembered that in the same book Mrs. Eddy tells us that accidents are not known to God. In a few hours the pain was gone. I had an appointment for that evening and filled it as though nothing had happened. In a few days there was not the slightest trace of the burn on my face or my arm.
I have enjoyed protection on numerous automobile trips and airplane flights, and I rejoice in the proof that Christian Science is a preventive as well as a curative agency. Lost articles have been recovered on several occasions through the application of Christian Science. I was healed of grief and a sense of separation after the passing of a son and, several years later, of a daughter. These healings came when I learned gratefully to recognize the truth of the Bible statement (Ps. 90:1), "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations."
I am deeply grateful to be a part of the Christian Science movement and to have had many years of joyous service to God through church membership. Also I am grateful for class instruction and for the inspiration of the annual association meetings. The blessings received through my study and practice of Christian Science are many. I am grateful to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader, whose unselfish love for God and man made it possible for us to demonstrate this great truth. Everything I have and am I owe to Christian Science, and my one desire is to follow Jesus' command (Matt. 10:8), "Freely ye have received, freely give."— Columbus, Georgia.
I am happy to verify my mother's testimony and to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science. A few years after my mother's healing I took up the study of this Science in earnest and enjoyed the privilege of attending the Sunday School. The fruits of this wonderful instruction have never ceased to appear in my experience. Many are the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of this precious Science.
For more than thirty happy years as a student of Christian Science, for the activity of church membership, for class instruction, and for the many rich feasts of Truth and Love I have enjoyed at the annual association meetings—for all these blessings, I give thanks to God. Also I thank the loving Father and Mother of all for the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy.— Charleston, South Carolina.
