The Humble Way

From the February 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It was a little town where he was born,
Our Bethlehem.
The good and simple folk who followed him.
Unselfish men.
A roadside spot, a vale, a fishing boat,
He preached from them.
Judean hills and Galilean shores
Remember him.
And there were wise men, rulers, kings,
Who humbly bowed.
He said, "Come unto me." for he was meek,
Lowly—not proud.
God's kingdom here on earth he proved, revealed,
For men were healed!

A cross and thorns, a tomb,
And victory!
The quiet blessing on a few
At Bethany.
Love's bright star sent to earth its timeless ray
Revealing now as then the humble way.
