We wait on God—
In holy solitude resign our human hopes,
Submissive to His gracious will, silencing
The self that would do this or that.
Instead, we humbly listen
As we pray to know the Father's clear design.
To see fulfillment of His plan in us.
And as we stand, we see our heaven open wide,
Enfolding us and all as Soul's embodiment.
The tender patience of God's grace
Is thus made manifest in us, and now we know
This Christlike love is always ours,
Eternally expressed! O Father, bring us often
To these sacred hours of yielding,
And let our holy acquiescence be complete;
Let Thy will become to us our greatest joy,
Our deepest peace, fragrant with Thy love!
