So many rich experiences have I had through God's gracious goodness that it is difficult to decide which to relate. John writes about Jesus' works thus (21:25): "If they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." This expresses my sense of the blessings to be gained through this Christ Science.
When I began to study the Christian Science literature, I found it so beautiful that I read long after midnight and again early in the morning. I felt like a new person, and everything about me also appeared to be made new. The desire for smoking and social drinking just faded away.
While attending a church service, which required a special train trip from a remote area, I had an instantaneous healing of a badly swollen and festered finger, in which a sliver had lodged. The joy and gratitude I felt just to be at the service were beyond anything I could express. When the first hymn started, I was overwhelmed by a magnificent sense of God's allness. In that moment I understood something of the meaning of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p.463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." My finger was healed, and not a sign of the trouble remained.
