I was introduced to Christian Science through the healing of my mother of headaches. However, it was not until several years later that I took up the study of this Science. At that time we were visiting my mother, and my baby boy was healed of an upset stomach. This convinced me that I wanted to go on in this way of life as taught in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. Many blessings and healings have come to me and mine through this study. Among the healings are those of asthma, the effects of poison oak, colds, and athlete's foot.
An outstanding healing was that of opposition to my being a student of Christian Science. The opposition at first kept me from having any Christian Science literature where it could be seen in our home. As I applied to the problems of the family the truths I was learning in this study, many healings resulted. These healings, together with my constant, consecrated study and my activity in the Christian Science Society of which I was a member, dissolved the resistance and opposition. From then on, the loved one aided me in various ways in the work I was doing for the society and also demonstrated the healing power of Truth.
Another experience I wish to relate was the healing of an internal growth which caused my body to be very large. There was no desire to have a medical diagnosis; so the name of the condition was never known. A Christian Science practitioner helped me over a period of two months. During this time I learned to obey this statement of Mrs. Eddy's from page 248 of Science and Health: "Let unselfishness, goodness, mercy, justice, health, holiness, love—the kingdom of heaven—reign within us, and sin, disease, and death will diminish until they finally disappear." As the truth of God and of man, made in His likeness, was accepted and false beliefs, based on sense testimony, were given up, the body became normal in size. This healing took place about eleven years ago and has been permanent.
