NO DESTRUCTIVE ACTION

From the July 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE makes startling statements, but anyone who accepts them and comprehends the truths they contain finds himself in sacred association with divine power. One such statement is that because God is the only creator—and "creator" implies creative or constructive action —there can be in reality no destructive action. According to the Science of being, God is omniaction, and this truth is provable.

In Science we learn that all that claims to be destructive action in human experience—demoralization, disease, deterioration, accident, storms, death—being contrary to the constructive action of the one creator, is without authority or cause. Being without cause, or divine Principle, destructive action is lawless, and it can be stopped. In fact, it must be stopped, and the just and lawful action of the one Maker be restored to human understanding through Science.

With penetrating wisdom Christ Jesus analyzed the mortal sense of life as it had never been analyzed before. He described the devil, or evil, as "a murderer from the beginning" (John 8:44). But he did not leave this disclosure of the carnal mind's murderous action there. He went on to say that the devil "abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
