I shall never cease to be grateful for the privileges of growing up in a home where Christian Science was practiced and of attending a branch church Sunday School until I was twenty. The knowledge I gained of Truth during those early years has stood me in good stead during the establishment of my own home and family. Although my husband is not a student of Christian Science, our two sons attend Sunday School regularly and are there receiving a firm foundation in Science.
Our younger son has had two healings which I should like to share. One evening soon after he was born, he suddenly appeared unable to get his breath. His father wrapped him in a blanket and rushed him to the nearest hospital, where he was told that the baby had asthma and that nothing could be done for him except to provide temporary relief. I prayed to understand that the child's true being was perfect and spiritual because he was actually the image of his Father-Mother God, divine Spirit.
The condition disappeared after a few days, but during the course of the next three months it reappeared several times in an aggressive form. No medical treatment was given. But since my prayers for the child were not proving permanently effective, I telephoned a practitioner and asked for treatment for him. After three treatments I was confident that all the work that was necessary had been done, even though the physical condition was unchanged. I felt the presence of the healing Christ. It was with a heart filled to overflowing with gratitude that I called the practitioner and told her that the work was completed. Within twelve hours the healing took place, and it has been permanent.
