KEEP RIGHT ON

From the January 1962 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE high goal before every Christian Scientist is that of instantaneous healing. It is our deep longing and earnest prayer that we may, as the outcome of our study and practice of the teachings of Christian Science, attain to those heights of spiritual discernment where healing takes place naturally and spontaneously.

There are times, however, when healing seems to come slowly, and the demonstration may require courage and perseverance. But if we keep right on, we shall look back on the experience in deep gratitude for the many lessons it has taught us and for the priceless unfoldments of Truth that have come to us all along the way. We shall find ourselves in full agreement with the Apostle Peter, who refers to "the trial of your faith" as "being much more precious than of gold that perisheth" (I Pet. 1:7). We shall remember in gratitude the hallowing touch of many angel messages that came to us in times when the way seemed dark and difficult. We shall find that the way has been an upward one leading to a deeper understanding of God.

It is helpful to remind ourselves of these facts and so meet courageously and with assurance the suggestions of error that we are not making progress or that if we are, it is too slow and painful.
