I looked upon my fellowmen with searching gaze.
What was I looking for in them? What were their ways?
I saw but tares of selfishness, self-will, deceit,
Injustice, pride, resentment, greed. Was there no wheat?
"The harvest time is now," Love said. "Burn up each tare."
I did, and, lo, the golden wheat was everywhere!
Unselfishness, humility, an honest heart—
Just, meek and loving, satisfied. I stood apart
In wonder at the good revealed by harvest rod:
Man is, has been, will ever be the son of God!
