Words can never express the great gratitude I feel for Christian Science. It has been our only physician, never failing to meet every need when we have lived in accordance with its teachings.
A healing for which I am very grateful occurred about three years ago. Our young son had been experiencing increasing difficulty in breathing and hearing over a period of many months. This condition became an extreme handicap in his schoolwork, and he was placed in the slowest reading group. It finally came to the point where he could hear only when spoken to very loudly and directly into the ear.
Treatment was then given by a Christian Science practitioner. An almost overwhelming sense of fear was dispelled by her assurance of God's tender and loving care for all His children and of the impossibility of their being separated from divine Love for even a moment. During this testing time, we discerned the need of greater obedience to authority on the part of our son, and it was as the result of working with words associated with obedience that the healing eventually took place. We worked with the following lines from Mrs. Eddy's poem "'Feed My Sheep'" (Poems, p. 14):
