THE SCIENTIFIC APPROACH IN BUSINESS

From the January 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The study of Christian Science and the specific application of the truths learned therein are of great help to businessmen and businesswomen. This fact is brought out by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health, where she writes (p. 128): "The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man. From this it follows that business men and cultured scholars have found that Christian Science enhances their endurance and mental powers, enlarges their perception of character, gives them acuteness and comprehensiveness and an ability to exceed their ordinary capacity."

Through the study of this Science, the individual manifests more intelligence, insight, and initiative, and his latent abilities are developed. At a time when all business is at a high point of competition, these attainments are sought in every field of endeavor.

I proved the practicality of a knowledge of divine Science a number of years ago when I accepted a position with a real estate firm as salesman. This firm specialized in handling certain types of property. The broker and my fellow salesmen were very helpful in teaching and guiding me in all ways possible. But having no knowledge of Christian Science, they kindly informed me that I need not expect to sell anything for several months, that I should consider those months as a learning period and try not to become discouraged.
