My understanding of Christian Science was a wonderful protection in a critical period of my life.
During my stay in America, some time before the outbreak of World War II, Christian Science was brought to my attention; so I started earnestly to study Mrs. Eddy's works and to read daily the Lesson-Sermon, provided in the Quarterly. A deeper understanding of God as Love and of my relationship to Him as His spiritual idea unfolded. My unity with God became an ever-increasing source of joy and protection, and it remained with me undiminished by severe trials during four years of war in Europe, to which I had returned for a visit.
I lived close to a river which serves as a natural boundary between two countries.
