I had always read the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals in a rather cursory manner; to me they often were just something with which to fill up an idle moment.
Sometime ago in an hour of great need I was led to open a Sentinel to a testimony that lifted me right out of my difficulty. A little later, as I was gratefully pondering the experience, these words came forcibly to my thought: "Do no idle reading of Christian Science." I resolved to obey; the results were proof of the wisdom of the command.
On a later occasion when I was again in need of healing I picked up a Sentinel. It opened to a testimony, which I read, and I had two wonderful awakenings. First, I found my problem was not unique—the testimony could have been mine—and, second, the healing truth found by the testifier in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was just as surprising, vital, and effective in my case.
