Lifted Up

From the August 1965 issue of The Christian Science Journal

HE drew them from their busy streets;
He offered truth to make them free;
Not riches, which men might prefer.
The magnet that he drew them with?
The power of Love, divinity
Bestowed on each impartially.

He drew them from the quiet sea—
Poor fishermen, with simple souls.
"I am come that they might have life," said he,
"And . . . have it more abundantly."

And this was not for them alone;
But for all men, in time to come:
For me today and you, beloved.
"And I, if ... lifted up ...," said he.
"Will draw all men unto me."
His promise, with authority.
