I have known of Christian Science since my childhood. A member of my immediate family was interested in the religion, but it was not until I was on my own, pursuing a career, a highly competitive profession in the arts, that I felt the need of an inner strength. It was then that I began to study occasionally the Bible, together with a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that I had owned for years.
My experience opened up for me in some interesting ways, but later I became dissatisfied with my way of life and felt that this was not the career for me. Trained only for this profession, I felt a great void and a loss of direction; but the leaven was at work, and I became an earnest student of Christian Science, seeking divine guidance and for the first time in my life willing to subjugate my will to the will of the Father. I honestly did not know where my place was; but with this new sense of humility I was led to take certain human footsteps which took me to a different part of the country. This move led eventually to a happy marriage and the establishment of a harmonious and satisfying home. Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church followed.
Our two young sons have attended a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age, and it is a joy to see them beginning to stand on their own and to put into practice the truths they are learning. Christian Science has always met our every need. The healings have usually come very quickly, sometimes through my own understanding, sometimes with the help of the dedicated practitioners, who stand always ready to help. In slower healings I have been grateful for the spiritual growth which has gone hand in hand with these healings.
