Education of the Future

From the September 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The word "educate" is derived from the Latin educare, which is related to educere, meaning "to lead out." The ideal way of instruction is to lead a student out of ignorance into truth.

According to Christian Science the truth of our being is that we exist to express God. To be educated, then, we must learn what God is, what He does, what the universe including man consists of.

Christian Science teaches that God is All and that He includes the universe. Nothing exists unless God made it. Nothing can be comprehended unless God knows it. Nothing is real unless it can be identified with God. God is the all-knowing Mind, the intelligence governing the universe, and He is the power upholding and maintaining it. If education is to be of real value to the advancing ages, it will have to teach, substantiate, and support these eternal facts.
