Every active, alert Christian Scientist has learned the value of staying power. Whether he is a new or a seasoned worker, he has discovered that his persistence in holding to the Christ, Truth, is proportionate to his adherence to divine Principle, Love, and to its just laws and right judgments.
The Master, Jesus of Nazareth, taught and illustrated the staying power of the Christ. He carried on his redemptive, healing work under the fire of unjust criticism, ignorant accusations, and malicious intent. His moral and physical stamina was firmly based on spiritual understanding. He knew that divine Truth, Life, and Love predominate over human code, creed, reason, and opinion, over animal magnetism, or evil, over material method and so-called physical law.
Mrs. Eddy's words and works are in complete accord with the teachings and demonstrations of the Master. After she herself had proved the healing power of Truth and Love, she prayed, she worked, she endured patiently and persistently until she made this power available to humanity in the textbook, Science and Health. The example of her unwavering steadfastness is an inspiration to her followers.
