When I started studying Christian Science in earnest, it was in gratitude to God for a healing of our oldest son, which was recorded in a testimony in the Christian Science Sentinel in 1955.
At that time my husband and I were having marital troubles and I was very unhappy. I thought he was selfish, inconsiderate, and very unloving. He appeared to be forever hurting my feelings. I loved him dearly, but it seemed to be in vain. Having promised myself that if our oldest child were healed through Christian Science treatment I would study this religion until I understood it, I began a diligent study of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and one blessing after another began to unfold in my life.
This was at a time when there was a shortage of housing, especially for those who were in a lower income bracket, as we were. But within weeks after I began studying, we were able to move into the town where my husband worked, some nine miles away. This meant that I could now attend the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, there. We then found friends of our age, who were Christian Scientists.
