"As the mountains are round about Jerusalem"

From the December 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Not long ago, in viewing surrounding mountains, the writer was impressed with their grandeur. She received much inspiration by meditating upon the spiritual truths that mountains represent. And this passage from the book of Psalms came to her: "As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever."Ps. 125:2

Mountains give us a sense of being beyond and above the dust of mortality; they point to that which is changeless, secure, eternal. In other words, mountains present a sense of the all-embracing presence and power of Love, God, who is also Principle and the only Mind or consciousness.

Through the study of Christian Science we are awakened to see that the real man is divine Mind's image and likeness, God's reflection, His perfect idea or embodiment. Therefore man always bears witness to divine Love's presence and power. He is held in and by this Love. In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we read: "Man is, and forever has been, God's reflection. God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence."Science and Health, p. 471
