The writer stepped out upon the stage of a world-famous concert hall. He was wearing a dress suit and was carrying a trumpet. As the houselights dimmed, he looked out into the vast audience. In the pit the orchestra leader tapped his baton against the music stand, and the string section played the introduction to the trumpet concerto.
