No matter at what point an individual appears to be in his study of Christian Science, he may avail himself of the great protective and supporting power of God.
From the age of four years I attended the Christian Science Sunday School. During this period my parents and I were healed many times through the prayerful work of Christian Science practitioners. One outstanding proof of God's ever-present protective power occurred when I was small.
In our neighborhood it was the custom each spring to burn off the vacant fields so that later they might be planted with corn. My mother and I were at home alone when one of these fires got out of control. The field next to our house was in flames. The fire seemed to be steadily progressing toward our barn, which stood at the back of the property. We began at once to declare the truth. Both of us literally shouted that God was ever present and that, despite the frightening picture before us, He was in complete control.
