Our family has had many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science. The children have been spared having many so-called children's diseases.
When we take our stand in Christian Science, we can expect to receive only good. This was proven at a time when our young son was hit by a car and his skull fractured. My wife carried him into the house and telephoned me. When I arrived, there were many people, the police had been called, and, in general, there was much confusion. We said there was no need to call an ambulance, and we thanked the people and told them that we were Christian Scientists. We assured them that the child would be well taken care of and in the proper manner. We asked the policeman to tell the people to leave, and told him that since there would be no charges against the driver of the car, he might also go.
A Christian Science practitioner was called, and the boy was given treatment. To lift our thoughts above the fearful picture of a badly injured child, we began to sing Mrs. Eddy's hymns. We sat by the child's bedside in prayer during the night. Early the next morning he sat up and asked for a drink of water. The bleeding had stopped, but the head seemed to be misshapen. Devoted prayerful work continued. Later in the day there was a very definite change in the shape of the head. In a very few days all signs of the accident had completely disappeared. There have been no aftereffects. This was indeed a proof of God's care.
