Spiritual Education

From the January 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Christian Science the word "education" takes on a very special meaning. It implies much more than the development and cultivation of what are called natural human powers, important as these may be.

However, in actual practice the student of this Science finds that by giving priority to spiritual development he absorbs human knowledge more readily, and performs his daily duties more quickly and ably. He proves that through prayerful communion with God, infinite omniscient Mind, he expresses the clarity, acuteness, and comprehensiveness inherent in the divine nature.

In Christian Science we have the priceless opportunity to grow in spirituality, to leave limited material standpoints and progressively understand the unlimited nature of man's real identity forever at one with infinite Mind. Human experience is a valuable school in which our characters are molded and refined, where we begin to learn the truth of man's selfhood and demonstrate something of our true potential as the sons and daughters of God.
