My gratitude is very great for a healing...

From the May 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My gratitude is very great for a healing of scalds when a large pot of boiling water was tipped over both my knees and thighs and down one leg. The experience was almost overwhelming, and I felt like a little child who wanted to creep into someone's arms and be comforted. Even so, I knew the material condition must be met quickly with scientific truth, and I called out, "I will not be hurt!" and then asked my husband to telephone a Christian Science practitioner for her prayerful support.

The thought came that legs were meant for walking, and somehow I got up and began to walk, and I walked for two to three hours around the kitchen, all alone, struggling at first to overcome the shock and severe pain. I had no doubt of being healed through prayerful turning to God, and a statement in that week's Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly was helpful: "The true sense of being and its eternal perfection should appear now, even as it will hereafter" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 550).

I pondered the fact that because Truth is ever present the evidence of a true sense of my being did not depend on time.
