When I started attending the Christian Science Sunday School at about the age of ten, I had been subject to frequent spells of sickness, was taking medicine, and was doing poorly in school, although I liked it and was eager to learn. Very shortly after the study of Christian Science was taken up by my family, this picture changed. The medicine was dropped permanently, and the picture of sickness was soon corrected, for I cannot remember any more attacks of that sort. My grades picked up, and when in high school, I maintained an honor roll average. Sometime during these years a back curvature, diagnosed in babyhood, disappeared. This correction was discovered when I was chosen one of a group with the best posture in gym class.
Although I considered myself a Christian Scientist, after I married I did not adhere to daily study. For several years I studied spasmodically, receiving comfort and healing especially when my children were born and difficulties arose. However, when I turned and took up the practice of the teachings in earnest, because I truly wanted to know God and to serve Him, He led me along a path of blessings.
There is nothing really spectacular to relate, just a steady growth and the glow of learning of God, applying Christian Science, and seeing the results in innumerable little ways, which accumulate into a way of life and thinking. Periodic attacks of a hay-fever-type allergy stopped shortly after I joined the branch church of which I am a member. A condition of what appeared to be bursitis in my shoulder was healed when I consciously replaced a sense of resentment and criticism with love for another person.
