Christian Science has been the law of my life for twenty-seven years. I had been seeking the true understanding of the Bible for many years, going from one church to another but not quite finding what I was looking for. A friend was healed of pernicious anemia when a Christian Science practitioner talked to her of God's law of harmony. This healing was my introduction to Science.
I purchased the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and began to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. Many false habits and traits of character have been healed, including those of smoking, drinking, and a bad temper. I was healed quickly after I submerged my hand and part of my arm in a vat of boiling water, and on another occasion when boiling grease was spilled down the front of my dress. The healing thought was, "Man is spiritual, God's likeness, and no matter can touch me."
Recently I did a lot of heavy work, straining my chest. For about four days I could neither move nor breathe without pain or difficulty. I called a practitioner for help. He talked of God and His ideas, as revealed to us in the Bible and Science and Health. We talked each evening for four nights. One by one the truth uncovered in my thinking hurt feelings, a fear of losing love, thoughts of loneliness, and many other wrong beliefs. In the textbook Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 233): "The counter fact relative to any disease is required to cure it. The utterance of truth is designed to rebuke and destroy error." This truth healed my problems and allowed me to see clearly that I was believing in false laws, instead of listening to what God said, as revealed in the Holy Bible. On the fifth evening I knew my healing was complete.
