Soon after I was married, I went to live in New York. During that time, a quiet and industrious maid whom we had brought over from Japan began to have sleepless nights, which continued for more than a month, and she would look blank and utter strange words. I became quite alarmed. After much consideration I told her about Christian Science, which I had heard of around that time, and asked if she would like to go and see a Christian Science practitioner. She said she would be happy to be taken to one, so I took her to a practitioner's office.
After a good conversation, she came home very happy. The next day the maid did not appear in the kitchen for a long time. In my anxiety I went to her room around eleven o'clock, knocked on the door, and opened it slightly. She was sleeping peacefully and looked comfortable. That was the end of the sleeplessness, and she still lives in New York and is in good health.
After my husband passed on, I took my four small children back to live in Japan, and much to my surprise I found that my mother, who had been searching for a religion, had found Christian Science and was studying it earnestly each morning. I felt this could be nothing but God's providence. I myself began to study the King James Bible, and the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and have since experienced many healings.
