Church in action News and Announcements

CHURCH. The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle.

The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick.

—Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 583).

An expectancy of good brought healing results

From the May 1975 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A Monitor Circulation Representative can spend a good deal of time on the telephone talking with potential subscribers. And it can bring healing results.

Take the experience of a reluctant woman Circ Rep in Pennsylvania who prayed daily to replace fear and timidity with courage and an expectancy of good. Upon telephoning a woman to whom she had mailed a sample copy of the Monitor, she learned the young lady was confined to her bed and expected to have an operation. The woman asked the Circulation Representative if Christian Science could help her. She assured her that Christian Science does heal, and the next day took her a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. A long talk ensued, with many questions being asked about Christian Science.

"I telephoned her some time later to inquire about her progress," the Monitor Rep reports, "and she said she was reading Science and Health and was up and resuming her normal activities—and there has been no operation.

"And 'Oh,' she said, 'I want to subscribe to the Monitor!'"
