Once, while my four children and I were at the beach, a severe storm broke out. We immediately began to pray. The children attended a Christian Science Sunday School, and were able to join in with the prayers they had learned there.
We ran to get behind a piece of canvas that served only as a wall,but most important, we knew we had the protection of the ever-present Almighty, who does not forsake His children. It was my custom always to take the Christian Science Hymnal with me and I opened it then to Mrs. Eddy's hymn beginning with the words, "O gentle presence, peace and joy and power" (No. 207). We all began to sing this hymn, and before we finished, it was light again, and everything was calm. But that wasn't all. We also noticed that the place where we were was completely dry. Our joy was immense, for we could see that God's love had been a shelter for us in the middle of the beach to protect us from the storm. God can do all things.
