Mrs. Eddy begins the textbook, Science and Health, with the words (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." And she writes further in the same book (p. 319): "Having faith in the divine Principle of health and spiritually understanding God, sustains man under all circumstances." How grateful I am that I was able to experience the truth of these words.
Several years ago I received an invitation from my sister and brother-in-law in South-West Africa to visit them. Before my trip, which I had booked on a freighter, I had a smallpox vaccination to permit me to enter South-West Africa.
When we were on the high seas, the vaccination mark became enlarged, and I put a small bandage on it to cover it. Several evenings later I noticed in the mirror signs of infection from the vaccination mark extending over my shoulder and breast. For a moment I was upset, but then I said to myself, "Now you have an opportunity to prove what you have learned over the years of God's omnipotent care."
