In answer to the question "How would you define Christian Science?" Mrs. Eddy answers, "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony."Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1;
In this troubled world of wars and strife, have you ever stopped to think what a wonderful word "harmony" is and what peace and inspiration it brings? When we consider it deeply as a law of God by which man is governed, our fears begin to vanish, and the strain and stress of life are eased.
Harmony alone is real; its law is ever operating, whatever mortal mind, or the material senses, may say. This law of God, of good, is absolute, immutable—it never fluctuates or wavers—holding man in eternal bliss. The material senses present us with suggestions of evil and discord. We may hesitate to open a newspaper lest we read of more disaster. But as we strive to gain the spiritual state of harmony through the study of Christian Science, we see everything working and moving in perfect rhythm and order under the government of divine Principle. This spiritual consciousness is not far off, above the skies, but a present possibility. Spirit reigns now and forever.
