This testimony to the practicality and availability of Christian Science is long overdue, because I have been blessed and helped in every detail of my life ever since I first started to attend a Christian Science Sunday School at the age of three, some forty years ago.
Having seen marital unhappiness in my family when a child and in my early teens, I was determined I would never give myself the problem of marriage. However, I did long to find true and lasting companionship and prayed earnestly during several years with the result that I made many fine and enduring friendships; but I still felt solitary. I continued to pray and began to see that the shared understanding I was seeking was often best expressed in marriage, and I gained much inspiration from studying the chapter on Marriage in the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Later, I met a young woman who was a sincere student of Christian Science, and in a very short time we found that we wanted to be together permanently. Within three months we were married. This was nearly twenty years ago. Mutual understanding and compassion, which are an essential part of marriage, and which we have endeavored to express to each other, have been a sure source of inspiration and healing.
