I am one of the many who can bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science as a result of studying Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
During the Second World War, shortly before leaving for a new and temporary home far from my home state, I was loaned a copy of Science and Health. I settled in an apartment outside a small town which was a considerable distance from any branch Church of Christ, Scientist, Reading Room, or Christian Science practitioner. There was no transportation, and no phones were available. I was on my own as a very new student of Science. I spent many happy hours reading that little book, and when I returned to my home city six months later, I had read through Science and Health six times.
After about two months of study I awoke one morning with what seemed to be a severe throat infection. I could not speak at all. As I was to be alone for several days and had no one to contact a practitioner for me, I spent all my waking hours studying and praying the best I could. I ate little and slept only fitfully. Nevertheless, I continued to ponder Science and Health, and on the third morning I awoke to find that I was completely healed! Joyfully I went about my household duties. My heart was truly singing!
